Uncommonly Lost

Uncommonly Lost Ghazal

I alone am waiting on a bridge to meet you,

for only the water brings serenity in a world made mad by you.

I merely wish there was more time to live this life,

to finish menial chores, and to talk to the cows about a letter written by you.

I need to find a pocketful of strength in order to reach

that hollow train and rest my soul by you.

I wander among thin tress, barely hidden but

never found, wondering why one must be loved by you.

I am alone, kneeling in someone’s field

still living under the notion that trust can’t be broken, even by you.
